Leny Yoro has sent a determined message to the Manchester United fans as he closes in on a return to action.

The 18-year-old has not played a single competitive game for United since moving from Lille for £52million in the summer. Yoro injured his metatarsal during a pre-season outing in the USA against Arsenal and hasn't featured since, missing the first 16 matches of the campaign.

However, Yoro is finally nearing a return to fitness after he was spotted back in team training with the rest of his teammates earlier this week. Although Yoro is not expected to play for United until after the international break - sitting out the clash with Leicester on Sunday - his condition is looking positive.

And the Frenchman has now outlined his desire to get back out there and be on the pitch as soon as possible. "Every time I come and watch the games I just want to be on the pitch," he said. "know it's closer now, so I stay ready but I just want to be on the pitch with the guys and to fight for the club."

Yoro hasn't been at United long but he is already starting to get to grips of what it means to play for the club and will no doubt be an asset when he does make his long-awaited competitive debut.

In a press conference earlier this week, Van Nistelrooy gave an update on Yoro's fitness. He said: "He's been managed very well after his injury in pre-season.

"Obviously, it was going to be a long one and it's a big moment for him, that first time he's back in team training. We're going to get him back partially over the coming weeks and look to get him on board as quickly as possible."

United face Leicester on Sunday in Ruud van Nistelrooy's final game as interim head coach. The former United striker has done a steady job since the sacking of Erik ten Hag, winning two and drawing one of his three matches at the helm. But the Dutchman will bow out at Old Trafford ahead of Ruben Amorim's arrival on Monday.
