Bobby Clark, Ryan Gravenberch and Stefan Bajčetić both passed on their messages of support, as did Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who has played with Jones in the England set-up.

Jones, 23, has featured 35 times in all competitions for Liverpool this season. He was a key part of Jürgen Klopp's plans earlier in the campaign before an ankle injury kept him out of action for almost two months.

The midfielder has since returned to full fitness and played the final 15 minutes of Monday night's draw with Aston Villa. He will hope to be part of Arne Slot's plans next season and reflected on his progress earlier in the campaign.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "I have been in and around the team since I was 17 but I feel like I have arrived now. I am in the team and playing well. Jürgen has turned me from a boy into a man and I am grateful to him."

Liverpool.com says: Congratulations to Jones and his partner on the news that they are expecting a baby girl. Jones has developed into a senior player this season and he is no longer regarded as a youngster. That is testament to his character and the way he has kicked on. He will hope to catch Slot's eye when pre-season gets underway.
