Liverpool is just days away from bidding farewell to Jürgen Klopp. The Reds host Wolves on Sunday on the final day of the Premier League campaign and the last match of the Klopp era. It has been nine incredible years at Anfield and Klopp has aimed one final parting shot at one of his fierce rivals.

Focus is already shifting to the summer and what could happen after Klopp's exit. Arne Slot is due to arrive as head coach and his options could be boosted by a defensive addition. Here's your round-up of the latest Liverpool news.

Liverpool 'transfer priority' clear

A busy summer awaits at Liverpool as Arne Slot prepares to be appointed as head coach. New sporting director Richard Hughes will lead transfer dealings but Slot will have a say in identifying targets ahead of the summer window.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, a central defender is a priority for the Reds when the season finishes. A replacement will be sought for Joël Matip, who is expected to leave when his contract expires.

Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho is reportedly on the radar after an impressive season in Germany. He only cost Frankfurt $8.9m (£7m/€8.2m) when he arrived from Royal Antwerp a year ago.

Arsenal is also keen on the Ecuadorian, with Frankfurt demanding around $66m (£52m/€61m) for his services this summer. It is claimed that Liverpool does have other defenders on its radar.

Jürgen Klopp aims parting shot at Rio Ferdinand

Ahead of his Anfield exit, Jürgen Klopp couldn't resist a final dig at former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand. The ex-defender recently visited Liverpool's AXA Training Centre to interview Klopp for broadcaster TNT Sports.

Yet Klopp has remembered Ferdinand wanted the 2019/20 season declared null and void after play was stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Liverpool had led the table for much of the campaign and went on to win the Premier League.

Speaking to Redmen TV, Klopp said: "Rio Ferdinand I think said it, 'I think you should null and void the league'. I forgot that actually that he was [the one who said that] because I gave him an interview only recently. It was not a good interview anyway!"
