Liverpool is reportedly ready entering the ultra-competitive race for Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi.

The Reds ' interest was confirmed by Sky Sports Germany, alongside the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea, with Adeyemi likely on the move two years after rejecting Manchester United to join Jurgen Klopp's former team.

"Manchester United wanted to enter the race - but we want Borussia," Adeyemi's former agent told football insider Fabrizio Romano in 2022. Dortmund ultimately paid $42m (£33m/€39m) to acquire the Munich-born left winger from Red Bull Salzburg, who is currently under contract with the club through June 2027.

Dortmund's hefty investment appeared to immediately pay off as Adeyemi arrived in Germany at just 20 years old, totaling six goals and five assists across 20 Bundesliga starts in his debut season. The four-time international suffered a noted sophomore slump last term and was out for 52 days with a Syndesmosis ligament tear — in which he totaled just four goal contributions.

Despite this underwhelming season, Adeyemi featured in Dortmund's run to the Champions League final, scoring two goals and recording an assist across 12 games.

The report continues that Dortmund would consider offers that allowed the club to recoup its initial transfer expenditure. Adeyemi also notably parted ways with his agent this offseason and is currently consulting with a variety of representation options.

Adeyemi could step into a recent vacuum along the left wing at Anfield, with Liverpool's star forward Luis Diaz attracting rumored interest from Barcelona and PSG this offseason. The Colombian winger has piqued the interest of Barcelona's sporting director and former club legend Deco, and a report from Football Insider asserted that the Reds have slashed their initial asking price.

A role in Adeyemi's preferred position could open up should Diaz depart, although Liverpool's continued interest in Anthony Gordon could make this short-lived. Liverpool has been linked with a big-money move for the winger, who has played for Newcastle the past two seasons.

Elsewhere, Mohamed Salah sees his contract end at the end of 2025 amid heavy interest from the wealthy Saudi Pro League. Diogo Jota has not seen his contract extended since joining the club in 2022, his deal set to expire a year after Salah's, and Darwin Nunez was linked closely with a Barcelona move toward the beginning of the summer. Even if a starting role doesn't emerge this season, the Reds might see value in developing Adeyemi amid future uncertainty in the attack.
