Manchester City fans are being prepped to keep their expectations in check regarding the release of further details from the ongoing Premier League hearing taking place in London this week.

The allegations placed upon City first broke out in February 2023, with an initial count of 115 alleged Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches said to have occurred between 2009 and 2018. In the time since, there's been eager anticipation for updates on the schedule for these hearings. The City camp has consistently denied any wrongdoing, confidently stating the club possess irrefutable evidence to quash the claims made against it.

It took 19 months, but finally, the hearing kicked off this week in a location which, despite attempts to keep under wraps, ended up splashed across the media. Despite the secrecy slip, Liverpool fans hoping for extensive insights shouldn't hold their breath.

That's the gist from former Everton CEO Keith Wyness, who shared his thoughts with Football Insider. He said: "We're not going to be hearing much. They have been very clear about that."

He added: "The chairman of the commission will only disclose things he wants to be disclosed, and there'll be no further reporting. Of course in football, we're all looking for leaks and, if there are no leaks, then people would be making up leaks, so we're going to have to be very careful with the information coming out."

Recent reports indicate that some Premier League clubs are irked by the proposed secrecy surrounding the charges and hearing, arguing that justice must be visible. "I do believe it should be transparent, because it would add to the penalty," Wyness concluded. "If a club realised it would be dragged through the mud publicly, that might be another way to stop the behavior we're trying to fight against."

Wyness expects the case to "bore people for the next two months" but "there will be bombshell moments". Liverpool fans will wait to see what happens, as a punishment for City - such as a points deduction - could boost the Reds' Premier League title chances. Yet it's too early to say whether City will be punished, or even if the Manchester team is guilty.
