Liverpool fans held up a banner in the Kop during the 2-0 win over Aston Villa, calling on the the club's owners to give Mohamed Salah what he wants in order to sign a new contract at Anfield.

The Egyptian underlined his importance to Arne Slot's team on Saturday night as he scored and assisted to help the team to its 15th win of the season in all competitions.

Salah has already registered 10 goals and 10 assists this term, and his impressive form comes against the backdrop of contract uncertainty, with the 32-year-old into the final eight months of his current Reds deal.

Salah is one of three key Liverpool players who, as things stand, will become free agents on July 1 next year. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are in the same boat as Salah, and all three men will be able to start negotiating summer transfers with foreign clubs on January 1.

The vast majority of Liverpool fans, unsurprisingly, want all three men to stay and a banner held up in the stands against Villa specifically focussed on Salah. The banner said: "FSH, he fires a bow, now give Mo his dough."

A Liverpool fan on X shared a picture of the banner and wrote: "Love this banner which was in the Kop last night. Salah has made his intentions known he clearly wants to stay at the club, now its up to the club to pay him his worth. If he leaves it will be because of FSG tightness & prove yet again what I always say the club is far too big for FSG."

Liverpool sits five point clears at the top of the Premier League table after the win against Villa, and Van Dijk hailed the talismanic Salah after another match-winning display.

"Special player," Van Dijk said about Salah. "Not only this year, but so many years now. You see the hard work that he puts in and how consistent he is, especially with his numbers but also with his performances.

"He is a special player and a pleasure to play with. Physically, definitely [he can stay at this level for longer]. Mentally, that's in his hands. With certain players, you can see how they play on the highest level."
