Liverpool handed Ibrahima Konate injury scare during Brighton game as defender fights back tears
Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate looked in pain as he went off the field at half-time against Brighton, with the Reds center-back holding his arm in a makeshift sling after he went down following a corner kick.
Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah were among the options that Arne Slot could look to off the bench. And it was the former who the Dutchman turned to despite Gomez having only played 10 minutes in the league so far this season.
Konate has played every Premier League game for Liverpool since he came on at half-time in the opening match of the season against Ipswich Town. Quansah was hooked on that occasion and hasn't made a league appearance since.

Ferdi Kalioglu opened the scoring with a brilliant strike from the edge of the penalty area in the first half that went in off the post. And Brighton could have gone further ahead had it not been for a couple of good saves from goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
"For the long term, I really liked what I see from players that haven’t played that much this season yet, that they were able to play a similar style that we usually do and they brought quality into the game, so that makes it even harder for me to make line-ups in the upcoming weeks," Slot said post-match midweek.
It looks like at least one of those players will need to step up in the next few matches, though the full extent of Konate's issue is not yet known. Liverpool has Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa this week before the November international break. Before long, the Reds also have big matches against Real Madrid and Manchester City.
