Liverpool tipped for move to sign versatile Martin Zubimendi alternative
Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich would be the perfect signing for Liverpool.
The Reds made Martin Zubimendi their priority transfer target this past summer, only for the Spaniard to end up spurning Liverpool's advances. Since then, the Real Sociedad star has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as Liverpool.
However, one alternative for the Reds could be Kimmich, who is out of contract in the summer. The Bayern Munich star can operate in midfield as well as at right-back and is yet to have signed a new deal with the Bundesliga side.

Petit believes the 29-year-old, who was linked with a move to Merseyside this past summer, could be the perfect addition to Arne Slot's squad. Speaking to Prime Casino, Petit praised Kimmich's ability to control a game, his passing and his experience in the middle of the park.
"Joshua Kimmich would be a good addition to Liverpool," said Petit. "I’m not sure he would be able to compete for the right-back position but he would offer a good option in holding midfield also.
"I like the way he can conduct the tempo of games with his passing and he’s got so much experience now with Bayern Munich and Germany. I’m sure he has ambitions having been in the Bundesliga for so long so maybe Liverpool would be the best place for a new challenge.
Liverpool.com says: "With Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially on the move in the summer, Kimmich would be a cost effective replacement to go alongside Conor Bradley at right-back. The German would also add quality and experience to Liverpool's midfield too. With Kimmich not having signed a new deal with Bayern, it will be interesting to see just where he ends up."
