Liverpool transfer news as 'next Luka Modric wanted' and $52m left-back chased for Arne Slot
Liverpool could be set to splash the cash in 2025 in what could be a huge year for Arne Slot's side.
The Reds currently face the prospect of losing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah as their contracts run down, while a number of other players have been linked with moves away at the end of the current campaign.
And having signed only one player in the form of Federico Chiesa during his first transfer window at the club, Slot could finally let the shackles loose on his transfer budget in order to build his own squad next year.
Kaoru Mitoma could've made Liverpool transfer - 'Source of regret'
Next Liverpool transfer need will soon become clear as Arne Slot offers clarity
That could very well begin with the signing of a midfielder dubbed 'the next Luka Modric', with the Dutchman keen to bolster his options in that area of the pitch.
Red Star Belgrade midfielder Andrija Maksimovic is the man in question, with Rousing The Kop reporting that Liverpool has set its sights on him. Only 17-years-old, the teenager is already a Serbia international having made his senior debut last month.
Maksimovic primarily operates as an attacking midfielder but can also play a more central role, as well as out wide. It's understood the youngster could be available for a relatively low price from Red Star, with a fee of around $16million (£12m/€14m) being mooted in the media.
Elsewhere, Liverpool has set its sights on a new left-back to succeed Andy Robertson and Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez appears to be top of the wish list for Slot, with the Hungarian continuing to be linked with a move to Anfield.
According to TEAMtalk, the Reds have been scouting Kerkez for months and have already produced a detailed evaluation on him. It's added that a bid is 'likely' and sources claim Liverpool is in a ‘good position’ to land the defender.
Bournemouth previously set a $52m (£40m/€48m) asking price for the 20-year-old during the summer and it's likely that will remain ahead of next summer, although his stock could rise once more depending on his performances this season.
