Liverpool is preparing to enter the international break off the back of a remarkable start to the campaign and things couldn't seem better for Arne Slot's side.

The Reds have won seven of their eight games in all competitions at the start of the 2024-25 campaign, leaving them top of the Premier League table, going strong in the Champions League and securing their passage to the next round of the Carabao Cup.

There is one more game to come against Crystal Palace, of course, but even a worst case scenario at Selhurst Park would hardly dampen the mood around Anfield as things stand. What would make up for a defeat, though, are more exciting transfer links to a number of stars.

And perhaps the pick of the bunch is that involving Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who was linked with a move to Liverpool throughout the summer as Slot aimed to solve his defensive midfield crisis.

According to the latest reports, however, Liverpool recently sent scouts to watch the Brazilian in action for Atalanta against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League in midweek, where the 25-year-old featured for the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 victory.

Furthermore, TBR Football now claims that Ederson is "ready" to leave Atalanta in 2025 and has decided that a move to England is his preference, adding further fuel to the fire over a potential move to Liverpool following recent links.

Another player linked with Liverpool during summer, albeit briefly, was Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, who starred for the Eagles last term with 11 goals and four assists in 27 Premier League appearances in south London.

The England international, perhaps surprisingly, remained with Oliver Glasner's side throughout the summer but is now being touted as a potential target for Liverpool once more. However, a shocking report claims those at Anfield see him as a viable 'replacement' for current attacking midfielder Dominik Szobszlai.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Liverpool views Eze as a more "creative" option with a better "end product" than Szoboszlai, despite the Hungarian impressing with his all-round play during his first campaign on Merseyside.

Elsewhere, an interesting update involving Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract situation has emerged, with the Reds right-back yet to extend his stay at Anfield past the end of the current campaign, leaving him at risk of leaving as a free agent next summer.

But despite persistent links to Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also been said to be monitoring the 25-year-old's situation, TBR Football claims Alexander-Arnold has not been in contact with any of the three sides.

Instead, Liverpool remains "confident" that a deal can be struck with the player and is willing to put him in the same wage bracket as Mohamed Salah on close to £300,000-a-week ($393,000). In addition, the Reds are said to want the situation resolved before Christmas.
