Liverpool return to Champions League action on Tuesday away at Girona. The Reds have enjoyed a perfect start in Europe this season and are the first team to guarantee their place in either the round of 16 or knockout phase play-offs.

Arne Slot's side have also had the advantage of extra rest after Storm Darragh forced the Merseyside derby's postponement on Saturday. Liverpool will face Everton at an alternative date, but their current focus will be on Tuesday's trip to Spain.

And several players have hinted they will feature against Girona. Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai are among the Reds players to have put pre-match graphics of the match on their Instagram stories.

Historically, players who share the graphics have tended to be in the team come kick-off. Alisson, meanwhile, posted a snapshot from the plane captioned: "So happy to be back," in a huge boost to the Reds as he looks to return from injury.

But Slot admits it will not be easy for Alisson - who has missed the last 11 games - to improve on the contribution of Kelleher, who kept three successive clean sheets in the Champions League.

"Alisson is fit, yes," said Slot in his pre-match conference. "I think it speaks for itself if you can play Alisson, who has been so outstanding for this club for so many years and for the Brazil national team. It is definitely nice to have him back and to have him available.

"But if you look at how his replacement did, it is not going to be easy to do it better. We expect that will be the same or on margins a bit better.

"But Caoimh did also so well that we can say that we have two very good goalkeepers. For so many years, Alisson has been so outstanding for this club that we are expecting and hoping he will do the same in the coming weeks and months."
