Liverpool XI vs Aston Villa: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest today
Roberto Firmino is on the bench ahead of his final Anfield appearance today when Liverpool host Aston Villa.
Liverpool announced earlier this week that Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all be leaving the club when their contracts expire this summer.
The Brazilianhas not made the line-up but Jurgen Klopp will be keen to give him minutes off the bench after he recovered from a muscle injury.
Milner is also set to be involved, but Naby Keita remains injured with Oxlade-Chamberlain absent having not made a Premier League squad since the start of April.
The Reds host Unai Emery’s side on Saturday at Anfield, looking to make it eight wins on the bounce and keep their slim top-four hopes alive, even if they are relying on favours from Manchester United.
Darwin Nunez did not feature in the win over Leicester last time out, and Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the striker will not be involved against Villa.
“Darwin will not be available,” Klopp said.
“It’s an inflammation of the tendon in his toe. Very painful obviously. Didn’t train yet this week so won’t be available.”
Curtis Jones keeps his place in midfield, after scoring twice against Leicester to continue his impressive form.
