Liverpool's chances of signing Alphonso Davies do not look particularly great at the moment, with Bayern Munich reportedly growing in confidence that the Canadian could sign a contract extension in Bavaria.

As things stand, the 24-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, and he was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier this year.

Madrid has made a habit of signing high-profile players on free transfers in recent years, including Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, while the club is of course interested in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the season.

However, despite reaching a broad agreement on personal terms in February, The Athletic reports that Madrid cooled on the idea of signing Davies and went months without resuming contact, prompting Davies to question how much Madrid wanted him.

Other potential destinations mentioned include Liverpool, Barcelona and Manchester United, but a move to Liverpool is said to be an "unlikely outcome" at present, despite The Athletic citing multiple sources who claim the Reds have expressed an interest in signing Davies.

Liverpool could be in the market for a new left-back next summer, with Andy Robertson having turned 30 this year and Kostas Tsimikas set to turn 30 next season.

Arne Slot has rotated Robertson and Tsimikas in the opening weeks of the campaign, but an injury to Tsimikas in November meant that Robertson started Liverpool's last seven matches.

While his overall performances have been good, Robertson has faced criticism after conceding penalties in the wins against Southampton and Real Madrid, and the Reds have been the subject of plenty of speculation linking them with signing a new left-back.

Another left-back Liverpool has been linked with is Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez. The 21-year-old Hungary international, who scored his first goal for Bournemouth last month, is said to be valued at around $50million by the Cherries.
