Liverpool's two-word reaction sums up Curtis Jones wonder goal on England debut
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones enjoyed a stellar senior international debut for England by scoring a spectacular back-heel goal against Greece.
Handed his debut by interim boss Lee Carsley, Jones started in the heart of England's midfield alongside Atletico Madrid's Conor Gallagher. Jones, who has previously played for the England U21's under Carsley, has been in good form of late, and was rewarded with a start against Greece.
In the end, England ran out 3-0 winners in Athens against a Greek side they lost to last month at Wembley. However, while a goal from Ollie Watkins and an own goal from Odysseas Vlachodimos saw England take a 2-0 lead, it was Jones', which was the Three Lions third, that was the pick of the bunch.

In the 83rd minute, a cut back to Jones inside the box from Morgan Gibbs-White looked to be too far behind the Reds midfielder. However, Jones then ended up producing a stunning back-heel goal that evaded Vlachodimos, beating the Greek keeper to make it 3-0.
So good was the goal, Liverpool's official social media account posted on X: "WOW, CURTIS." They then followed that post up with another, proclaiming the goal to have been: "Outrageous."
And they weren't the only account on social media waxing lyrical about Jones' stellar finish on his England debut. One fan wrote: "So happy for Curtis, he's had a long road to get here.. even some Liverpool fans doubted him smh."
A second said: "Been a dreadful six weeks for the Curtis Jones deniers and great few weeks for those who’ve been in for the long haul." A third added: "curtis jones is a proper player mind, pure class."
A fourth said: "would love a profile like curtis jones at arsenal. lovely lovely footballer." And a fifth said: "Curtis jones you are unreal. Wow what a player we have."
Liverpool.com says: "Jones deserved to start for England against Greece and he repaid Lee Carsley's faith him by scoring a sensational goal on his full international debut. It was a wonderful goal from the 23-year-old, who has certainly done enough to start for the Three Lions on Sunday when they welcome the Republic of Ireland to Wembley."
