Merseyside teenager Abi Redman achieved a stunning victory in the International Tennis Federation U18 tournament held in Liverpool last week. The 17-year-old defeated Annabel Wong in a nail-biting three-set final at the Liverpool Tennis Centre.

Abi's win, her first on the international circuit, marks a significant milestone in her career and earns her crucial ranking points.

Training at Wirral's Bidston Tennis Centre, Abi aspires to secure a scholarship to play college tennis in the United States, where she also hopes to pursue her studies.

And she was delighted after winning the competition on home turf..

She said: "This win is so important for me and my future as it will open doors to numerous Universities in America. A big thank you to my family, coach, and Northern Vision for organising these events for us in Liverpool."

Anders Borg, the tournament director, underscored the importance of Abi's victory, stating: "Over the years, we have developed a big tennis following in the region, and to see local players like Abi go all the way in one of our events is a testament to the talent and dedication in our community. We have made Liverpool a major hub in Britain for international junior tournaments, which we are very proud of."

The Lexus Liverpool Junior International Tennis Tournament, where Abi claimed her victory, will continue until Friday, November 15th.
