Liverpool wingers Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have shown their support for teammate Ibrahima Konate after the center-back's injury scare in the nail-biting 2-1 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. Konate was forced to leave the pitch with his arm supported by an improvised sling, sparking concern among fans and teammates alike.

The incident occurred during the first half when Konate fell awkwardly while competing in the box as the Reds sought to level the score. Since Arne Slot's arrival, Konate has been instrumental alongside Virgil van Dijk in solidifying Liverpool's defense, contributing to their standing as the team with the tightest defense in the Premier League.

Konate took to Instagram on Sunday to reassure everyone about his condition, posting: "Thanks for all the messages of support. My injury isn't serious thankfully. I had a scan today and it confirmed there is no break. I'll be ready for the next game." And teammates including Van Dijk, Diaz, and Gakpo were quick to react to the good news with a flurry of emojis.

Post-match, Slot addressed the situation, saying: "We don't know yet. He had a lot of pain, but he hasn't been to the hospital yet, and maybe it is not even necessary to go to the hospital. I don't know."

He added: "It is always difficult to judge an injury in the first hour or first 10 minutes after it happens. Let's hope he can be with us as soon as possible because he had a big impact on our season until now."

Since then, though, it has been confirmed that Konate's injury isn't a bad one. He trained with his teammates earlier today and was spotted being jumped on by Kostas Tsimikas.

Konate was substituted for Joe Gomez at half-time, with the England star putting on a stellar show alongside Gakpo and Mohamed Salah to fuel the comeback.

The Reds have little time to rest as they welcome Bayer Leverkusen to Anfield for their Champions League clash. This signifies the homecoming of legendary midfielder Xabi Alonso, as the German champions aim to be the first to mar Liverpool's flawless European record this season.

Liverpool.com says: Konate's return is a welcome one. He has had a tendency to pick up injuries during his Liverpool career but this would have been a particularly unfortunate one. Thankfully, it looks like he is fine and can therefore face Leverkusen and then Aston Villa.
