Malik Tillman banks Rangers windfall as ex-loanee completes permanent PSV transfer

Malik Tillman has completed his permanent transfer to PSV, banking Rangers a cool seven figure fee.

The former Gers loanee has impressed on his latest spell away from Bayern Munich, scoring nine and assisting a massive 15 for the Dutch giants. The Eredivisie side held an option within the deal to make him their player on a permanent basis and they have now triggered that.

That also means the Ibrox side rake in a fee believed to be around £1.2million and that's on top of the £1m they were paid by Bayern last year. Gers had an option to buy when they loaned the 21-year-old and they wanted to take that up, but it then emerged the Germans could buy them out of that for a fee of £1m and that's what they did.

They opted instead to send him on loan to PSV and the USA international has flourished. Rangers were promised 10 per cent of any future fees received for the player and with the price reported to be £12m, that means around £1.2m goes into the Ibrox coffers which could be a welcome boost to Philippe Clement ahead of the summer transfer window.

Upon completing his permanent move, Tillman said: “I am very happy that I will stay at PSV longer. The first season has been great and I hope that we will win many more trophies in the coming years. That gives me the confidence that I am in the right place here and that I can develop into an even better footballer.”

Head coach Peter Bosz added: “I am very happy that he is staying. He is only 21-years-old, but has already taken so many steps in his development this year. That is nice to see and I am curious to see how he will continue to develop.”
