Man City captain Kyle Walker laughs off Ruben Amorim idea for Champions League
Kyle Walker brushed off the idea that Ruben Amorim's new role as Manchester United manager would come into their thinking for this week's Champions League tie.
Manchester City head to Lisbon to play Sporting CP on Tuesday, with both sides aiming to further their ambitions for the knockout stage of the competition. The two teams are among seven clubs to be level on seven points after three games, and Sporting also boast a 100 per cent winning record in their league this season.
As if the tie wasn't intriguing enough with the news that Sporting's Hugo Viana will be replacing sporting director Txiki Begiristain at the Etihad at the end of the season, last week United agreed a deal for Amorim to become their next manager starting in the November international break. Sporting's game with City will be one of the last for Amorim before he moves to the Premier League.

City, who have finished above United every year since 2013, have an opportunity to show the new United boss what he will be coming up against in Tuesday's game. However, Walker indicated that the Sporting manager's new role is irrelevant to how they feel about the Champions League match.
"We're going there to get the three points. I don't care if he's the Manchester United or Sheffield Wednesday manager," he said. "We're going there to get three points for City and then whatever will be for him, that's his personal problem.
"It's a new format of the Champions League and we need the points to make sure that we finish near the top to be a top seed. for the knockout stages. We take one game at a time, we complete Sporting, come back, rest, recover, then go again."
