John Stones missed Manchester City training on Monday and looks set to be unavailable for the Champions League trip to Sporting this week.

Pep Guardiola said Stones had a plantar fasciitis foot issue that kept him out against Bournemouth, while Ruben Dias has a muscular issue that will see him miss the next two games.

City are already without Rodri and Oscar Bobb, while Jack Grealish was again missing from training as he continues to recover from his own injury concern. Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker trained after making their returns at the weekend, although Guardiola cautioned against expecting them to be fully fit just yet.

City travel to Sporting in the Champions League later on Monday to take on Ruben Amorim's side in what will be the manager's final home game before he takes over at Manchester United.

The Blues have lost back-to-back games this week against Tottenham and Bournemouth, with a tricky schedule sending them to Lisbon and then Brighton before the international break with a bandaged and bruised squad who are feeling the effects of the ongoing injury crisis.

With key players missing and others lacking fitness, Guardiola called up a handful of youngsters to training on Monday and some may get the call-up to the senior squad for the Champions League fixture tomorrow night. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has been in the matchday squad for the last two games and was present again, as was Jacob Wright and the fit-again Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

Striker Will Dickson and defender Seb Naylor were also training although may not be included in the squad.

Full Man City training squad: Ederson, Ortega, Carson, Akanji, Ake, Gvardiol, Lewis, Walker, Kovacic, Gundogan, Nunes, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Foden, Savinho, Doku, McAtee, Haaland, O'Reilly, Simpson-Pusey, Wright, Dickson, Naylor, Wilson-Esbrand.
