Arne Slot warned every Premier League team contains quality that can hurt even the biggest of sides - and that was evidenced in Manchester City's draw with Newcastle.

Newcastle are by no means a small fry side, but City's imperious form of late - including Erling Haaland's alien-like scoring rate - would have left many thinking an away win was on the cards. However, Anthony Gordon, who was heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the summer, scored an equalizing penalty of his own making to grab a vital point against the champions.

Gordon's transfer from Everton to Newcastle for £45 million ($60 million) in 2023 falls into the exact category of player Slot is wary of. And the Liverpool boss pointed to these types of players across the Premier League as being lethal.

"One thing I noticed in the Premier League compared to the league I have come from is that every team has a few players who cost £40m-£50m and have a lot of quality so there are no easy games in the Premier League. I know every manager says it but it is true."

Reminiscing about his time with Feyenoord, Slot confessed that even when his former team weren't at its best, lower teams like Excelsior struggled to make an impact. He added: "If you work in the Eredivisie and you play a lower league team, take my final game with Feyenoord we played a lower team like Excelsior, a newly promoted club, and they didn't have one chance.

"They didn't arrive once close to the goal and Feyenoord were not even playing that well in that game. So with the Premier League, with every team able to buy players for a lot of money, every team has a lot of quality and you can never feel that the game is yours."

City's draw with Newcastle means a Liverpool win against Wolves in the later kickoff on Saturday will move the Reds to the top of the table. But even though Wolves sit in 19th, Slot will no doubt heed his advice with his opponents exhibiting plenty of quality across the team.
