Man City XI vs Brighton: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League today

Manchester City start with Julian Alvarez leading the line in the Premier League against Brighton tonight.

Erling Haaland is still injured.

The Norwegian striker was substituted off against Real Madrid, due to fatigue according to Pep Guardiola, before missing the weekend’s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea.

He, along with Phil Foden, missed training on Tuesday in a major worry for City. John Stones was able to train, however.

Speaking to reporters about the trio, Pep Guardiola said on Wednesday: “Erling Haaland is not ready for tomorrow - the other two they are ready ... [It's] not a big issue [for Haaland] but not allowed for this game."

City face two tricky away trips in their bid to reclaim the Premier League lead from Arsenal, with Nottingham Forest coming after the Brighton match. Some rotation is therefore possible from Guardiola.

Ederson starts, with Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake ahead of him in central defence.

Starting Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Ake, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Foden, De Bruyne, Silva; Alvarez

Subs: Ortega; Dias, Stones, Grealish, Doku, Gomez, Nunes, Bobb, Lewis
