Manchester City's unbeaten Premier League record was ended at Bournemouth as a lacklustre and injury hit Blues lost 2-1 on the south coast.
The result saw Pep Guardiola's side slip from the top of the table as Liverpool recovered from going a goal down at home to Brighton to win 2-1. Arne Slot's side are now top of the pile, two points clear of City.
Nottingham Forest are third with Arsenal having dropped to fourth, seven off the summit, following their lunchtime loss to Newcastle United in a day of drama at the top of the Premier League. Aston Villa and Chelsea both have the chance to move into the top four when they play Tottenham and Manchester United respectively on Sunday.
