Manchester United will be looking ahead to what business they can conduct during the January transfer window.

United have been heavily linked with several potential new signings as the New Year approaches. Five players were added to the squad in the summer, and there is every chance that more new additions could arrive at Old Trafford in the winter.

Ruben Amorim is United's new head coach following the departure of previous manager Erik ten Hag. Amorim will take charge of his first match as United boss on Sunday in the away trip to Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

Here, MEN Sport takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that have generated headlines over the last 24 hours.

United are once again being linked with a move for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. According to the Daily Mail, United are weighing up whether or not to submit another offer to sign Branthwaite when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

United have two bids rejected by Everton for Branthwaite in the summer, with the latter worth up to £50million including add-ons. The report claims that United want to sign Branthwaite to strengthen the centre-back options available to Amorim, who could select three central defenders in his starting line-up.

However, it has been reported that United may need to raise funds through player sales before being able to sign Branthwaite either in January or next summer.

Elsewhere, United are continuing to be linked with a move for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies. The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the left-back, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

According to Spanish news outlet AS, via Sport Witness, United are "bidding hard" to try and sign Davies, who will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside Germany in January.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg has gone one better, claiming Davies is a dream target for Ineos at United in 2025.
