Manchester United should dip into the transfer market to sign Fulham's Antonee Robinson. That's the verdict from Louis Saha, who believes that Robinson would help solve United's left-back woes.

United have endured their struggles in that position over the last 18 months. Luke Shaw has played just 98 minutes of first-team club football since February after struggling with muscle and knee injuries, while Tyrell Malacia has just returned from a long lay-off since undergoing surgery on his knee.

During that period, Diogo Dalot has been used there, Noussair Mazraoui filled in at the start of the campaign and even Jonny Evans moved across from centre-back. It has been a problem position for United and Robinson, who's been a star-performer in the Premier League with Fulham, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

According to ex-United forward Saha, Robinson would be an ideal solution to their left-back worries. Saha told Complete Sports: "Antonee Robinson could help transform United's side, because he's not just great at creating chances and getting forward, but he's also a leader.

"Usually captains are in the middle of the pitch, but he has captained Fulham from left-back this season and also brings so much enthusiasm. At United, Diogo Dalot likes to get forward but it's not as balanced on the other side, Robinson could bring that consistency and potentially solve a problem that Amorim has.

"I left United because I was always injured, so I do feel for Luke Shaw - he's a top player who wants to help his teammates on the pitch, he has love for the club. But Robinson is the type of player that can bring balance to a team and be such a threat, it would be interesting to see him in their wing-back position."

The Manchester Evening News understands United are looking to the market for another left-back. Indeed, they have already opened talks to sign highly-rated Paraguay youngster Diego Leon.
