Manchester United have been handed an injury boost ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League encounter against Arsenal with defender Leny Yoro set to be included in the squad for the first time.

The 19-year-old centre-back is yet to feature in a competitive game for United since his move in the summer. He suffered a fractured metatarsal in a pre-season friendly, ironically against Arsenal back in the summer.

Yoro has returned to training over the last few weeks and has been building up his fitness. Ruben Amorim has now confirmed that he’s ready to be included in the squad. "Maybe Leny Yoro is going to be in the squad,” he said.

"I feel he is in a good moment now, his fitness is better, so I think he is going to be in the squad. The others we have to see, some players are tired and we have to assess tomorrow in training.

He did however send a warning over managing the teenager’s minutes as he makes his comeback from injury. "I think he's a special talent, you have to be careful in this first moment, because we didn't have too many trainings together, he is training not alone, but with a small group of players,” he added.

"He is really fast, he is a modern defender and that is good when you want to press high and you leave a lot of strikers, especially in this league one against one, I think he can manage that. He is very good with the ball, so I'm really excited. I have to be careful. We have to manage the load and the minutes in the beginning but I am really excited to see Leny Yoro play."

One way to manage those minutes could be to start Yoro, and then take him off in the second half. The suspension of Lisandro Martinez for the game against Arsenal does leave a place in the back three vacant.

The best way to introduce Yoro to the XI may be to move Matthijs de Ligt to the left and play Yoro in the middle of the back three. He will then have both De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui either side of him to help guide him through the game.

Amorim also faces another suspension for the game against Arsenal with Kobbie Mainoo picking up his fifth booking of the season against Everton. Manuel Ugarte is the obvious replacement for the England international alongside Casemiro.

More good news for United is that club captain Bruno Fernandes is also fit. He was an injury concern after being seen icing his ankle after being substituted against Everton.

However, he is available for selection against Arsenal and is expected to line up alongside Marcus Rashford. The duo will be expected to support the striker in attack, after his goal against the Toffees, Zirkzee could be given the nod again ahead of Rasmus Hojlund.
