Manchester United injury update: Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw latest news and return dates

Manchester United are veering into another crisis.

After a promising start to Erik ten Hag’s third season at the club, a run of three games without a victory has piled pressure back onto the Dutchman.

Draws against Crystal Palace and FC Twente were disappointing but Sunday’s 3-0 defeat in the Premier League to Tottenham was branded “disgusting” by Old Trafford legend Gary Neville.

United will no doubt need to turn things around to stop even more speculation in regards to Ten Hag’s future from mounting and to do that, they will need their full squad available.

It is another gruelling week for the Red Devils, who face a trip to FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday before traveling to high-flying Aston Villa.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Manchester United injuries.

Kobbie Mainoo

Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo headed straight down the tunnel on Sunday after his first-half substitution following the red card shown to Bruno Fernandes.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag said of a potential injury: “I can't say in this moment.

“I have to find out but, of course, when a player is coming off before half-time already, then there are some concerns.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw is yet to have featured this season after making his return from a muscle injury during England’s run to the Euro 2024 final before suffering a set-back.

Last week, Ten Hag suggested the left-back could be ruled out of action until after the October international break.

“I think it's probably (before the break) but I can't say I'm 100 per cent sure,” he revealed.

"The plan is just to be back before but as I say I can't say this 100 per cent for sure. It can also be shortly after the break."

Potential return date: October 2024

Mason Mount

Mount also came off during the loss to Spurs after suffering a clash of heads with Radu Dragusin.

After the game, Mount posted an Instagram story saying: “I’m all good, just a scratch. Thanks for all the messages.”

Potential return date: October 2024

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire missed the Spurs game after sustaining a knock in training.

Ten Hag will update supporters on his fitness before the Porto game this week.

Potential return date: Unknown

Leny Yoro

Summer signing Leny Yoro is yet to have played a competitive game this season after requiring surgery on a foot injury suffered during pre-season.

He is not expected back until November.

Tyrell Malacia

Defender Tyrell Malacia has not featured in well over a year now but is believed to be closing in on a return.

Potential return date: Unknown

Victor Lindelof

Victor Lindelof is another United defender not to have played this season but returned to training ahead of the Palace game following a toe injury.

With that in mind, it would not be a surprise to see the Sweden international back in action soon.
