Manchester United share price changes after Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim decisions
Manchester United’s share price hit a week-high of $16.40 on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.
The value had been fluctuating between the $15.80 and $15.95 range during trading hours last Friday but opened on Monday with a marked uptick amid Ten Hag’s dismissal. The figure fell to $16.05 later in the day before a rebound to $16.18, finishing at $15.89.
The news that Ruben Amorim had agreed terms to become the new head coach did not seem to impact the market, although the price rose to a peak of $16.21 on Wednesday before falling to $15.97 by close.

United’s value is still around 11 per cent down from this time last year and over 20 per cent down from where it was at the start of the calendar year. By the close of training hours on Wednesday, United’s value was $0.24 lower than it was six months ago.
The club’s peak share price in 2024 came on February 8, in the week that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe stated he wanted to build a “Wembley of the North” for United. It reached a height of $21.70, almost six dollars higher than Wednesday’s end-of-day price.
The ratification of Ratcliffe’s 27.7 per cent stake on February 14 saw figures rebound up to $21.50 but by the end of that week, shares had sunk to $15.51. United’s stock price reached a trough of $13.73 in March but since June has largely flitted between the $16 and $17 mark.
Since the summer, United have installed a new board and spent more than £200million on transfers, having recorded their lowest Premier League finish last season after winning the FA Cup. Ten Hag is due around £17m in sacking compensation having signed a one-year renewal just four months ago.
United are set to shell out £8.3m for Amorim as per the compensation terms of his Sporting CP contract. A deal is now being thrashed out for his assistants, Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido.
