Manchester United will be out for revenge when they face Villarreal on matchday two of the Champions League tonight.

The Group F tie is a repeat of May’s Europa League final, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side lost a marathon penalty shootout 11-10 in Gdansk after Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli scored his spot-kick before decisively saving the effort from counterpart David De Gea.

A win here is important for United after they endured a dismal defeat against Swiss side Young Boys in their European opener a fortnight ago, despite Cristiano Ronaldo netting on his Champions League return in red.

Three points would also help to ease the pressure on Solskjaer, whose position has once again come under scrutiny following listless back-to-back home losses at the hands of West Ham and Aston Villa.
