Kilmarnock attacker Marley Watkins wants his sit to capitalise on their Rangers win to kick start their season.

Coming into their meeting with Philippe Clement's side at the weekend they had a sole Scottish Premiership win, but things were starting to turn for them with improved performances, and Watkins' 87th-minute goal to stun Rangers will now be the start of a Killie 're-set' says the striker. Despite their slow start to the season, Derek McInnes' side are now on a run of six games unbeaten and have now recorded back-to-back wins after getting their first home.

Watkins' strike came after Killie had a glut of chances, with the Welsh cap having a brilliant opportunity in the first half but failed to convert. Matty Kennedy narrowly missed out on getting on the end of a Corrie Ndaba cross and Robby McCrorie made a few decent stops to keep his former side out too.

“It was a weird, slow start with sending-offs and shooting ourselves in the foot,” said Watkins on Killie's start to the campaign.

“We set standards last season and we have got to make sure we kick on again and strive to do as well.

“I think we’ve had a re-set. I don’t think it was as bad as it seemed, but obviously it’s great to get two wins in a row. Now we just need to build on it next game and keep it going.

“I think we can beat anyone at Rugby Park. We can beat anyone anywhere, but especially at home.

“We are hard to beat when we’re at it and at our best and organised, then we’ll give anyone a game like you saw against Copenhagen.

"So we were confident but also had respect for Rangers.

“It definitely gives us confidence but I feel we knew we could beat anyone here anyway. But it’s just good to actually go and do it. So hopefully we kick on again.

“I thought we deserved it, we had the better chances, obviously, against a quality team.

“I think at home, we always feel we’ll have a chance. Even if we miss one, we’ll get another chance.”
