Head coach Marti Cifuentes paid tribute to Leeds United after watching his Queens Park Rangers side slide to a 2-0 defeat at Elland Road this afternoon.

Attack-minded full-back Jayden Bogle claimed his second goal in United colours to put Daniel Farke's side ahead in the 19th minute. The £5m summer signing from Sheffield United netted after the R's failed to scramble the ball away.

But the Whites missed a number of chances to increase their advantage either side of half-time. They were indebted to Joel Piroe, who stepped up off the bench to grab a second deep into added on time to stretch the R's winless run 11 matches. The visitors failed to register a single shot on target.

Cifuentes said: "Leeds were the better team in the game. We tried to compete.

"We know they are a very good team. They have the capacity to play well with their defensive structure and the two centre-halves and the two midfielders dropping team and the full-backs very high. There are a lot of players in the pocket.

"We knew we would almost have to do the perfect defensive game out of possession and take our chances.

"When we arrived in the final third, perhaps our choices when we got into situations were not the best. You need to have a high level of accuracy to get something from a game like today.

"It is hard for the guys because we are in a difficult trend but we played against a very good team so fair play to them."

With Portsmouth beating Preston North End, it means the R's head into the international break bottom of the table.
