And with that, we are through at Augusta National. Congratulations to Scottie Scheffler, who went into the tournament as the favorite and showed everyone why so many people had enormous faith in him. He dominated the field, beating second-place Ludvig Åberg -- who was appearing in his first Masters by the way -- by four strokes when all was said and done. This is Scheffler's second victory at The Masters (2022).
Scheffler was tied for the lead at the tournament at end of Day 2, alongside Bryson DeChambeau and Max Homa. On Day 3, Scheffler took a one-stroke lead, and never looked back, shooting a stellar 4-under-68 on the final day of the tournament. While the best single round of the tournament still belonged to DeChambeau, who shot a 7-under-65 on Day 1, Scheffler didn't have a single day over par. He was consistent, calm, and came out victorious. DeChambeau, meanwhile, dropped to a tie for sixth-place at 2-under when all was said and done. Homa finished tied for third at 4-under.
While all eyes were on Scheffler to see if he could hold on to win his second green jacket in three years, he stayed cool and collected in the spotlight. The course once again cheers his name. Here is how the top-ten finished as we say goodbye to Augusta for another year.
