Who are the new Match of the Day presenters? BBC eyeing three replacements for Gary Lineker

The BBC has reportedly settled on a presenting team for Match of the Day post-Gary Lineker, with the Daily Mail claiming that the role will be split between three experienced anchors.

Kelly Cates, Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman are reportedly preparing to share presenting responsibilities on the BBC's flagship Premier League highlights programme from next season.

Lineker has been the BBC's highest-paid on-air star for the last seven years, but it was confirmed in November that this season would be his last as the Match of the Day presenter, although he will continue to front the broadcaster's coverage of the 2025-26 FA Cup as well as the 2026 World Cup.

Stepping into his void on Match of the Day will be three presenters who have extensive broadcasting history in Cates, Logan and Chapman.

Kelly Cates

Cates, 49, first joined Sky in 1998 and spent eight years there before leaving in 2006. She returned in 2016, and has been a regular on Sky Sports subscribers' TV screens in recent years, regularly presenting Premier League matches. Cates also works for BBC Radio 5 Live, and has previously worked for the likes of talkSPORT, ESPN and Channel 5.

Gabby Logan

Logan, 51, has worked for ITV, Channel 5 and Sky Sports during her broadcasting career, but is largely known for her work as a presenter for the BBC. Logan hosted Final Score between 2009 and 2013, and has hosted coverage of several Olympics Games during her time with the broadcaster.

Logan has also presented Premier League and Champions League matches for Amazon Prime in recent years, while she has also been the co-host for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year broadcast since 2013.

Mark Chapman

Chapman, 51, began his broadcasting career in 1996 and has been the main Match of the Day 2 anchor since 2013. Chapman has presented the BBC's coverage of a number of sports during his career, including soccer, American Football, rugby league and athletics.

He is the BBC's main rugby league presenter, fronting the broadcaster's coverage of both the Rugby League World Cup and the RFL Challenge Cup. Alongside this, he covers the Carabao Cup for Sky Sports. He also hosts Sports Report on BBC Radio 5 Live, which is the world’s longest-running sports radio programme, and The Monday Night Club.
