Match of the Day pundits purr over Nottingham Forest summer signing as Gary Lineker says 'wow'
Centre-back pairing Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic are proving a 'really good combination' as Nottingham Forest build their impressive start on their defence.
Forest are third in the Premier League table following a thumping win over West Ham, with the second best record for goals conceded (seven), the second most clean sheets in the Premier league with five, the sixth best record for limiting shots (36) and the fourth best record for expected goals against (9.7).
That was put under scrutiny by pundit Joe Hart on Match of the Day, who came out with a glowing tribute and highlighted the business that Forest had done to bring in Milenkovic for £12 million from Fiorentina in July.
He said: "It's a great opportunity to look at Nottingham Forest's defensively and it's a really interesting partnership between Murillo and Milenkovic. Murillo is definitely the front-foot defender of the two, always looking to come out and be aggressive, take the ball and drive Nottingham Forest on. He's got a real art of taking the ball off people's toes and pushing them forward. Then when he doesn't take it, his partner in crime is there nice and calm when he does come out in Milenkovic to tidy up after him.
"They complement each other so well. Murillo knows he can get on the front foot and turn the ball over. Murillo is good in the air, he's always on the front foot. If he's up against Michail Antonio. It looks like a really good combination.
"Milenkovic was a £12m signing in the summer and he looks a real find."
Host Gary Lineker, having interviewed Nuno Espirito Santo himself for the programme, joined in the praise.
He said: "Nuno is modest but what a job he is doing. Nottingham Forest, wow. Wow. Nuno spirit we could say. It's special. Three stunning goals as well."
