Ally McCoist has backed Ange Postecoglou to WIN Tottenham silverware this season - but Jamie O'Hara was having none of it.

Fury erupted on a day of high drama in North London as the former Celtic boss halted his walk down the tunnel after defeat to newly promoted Ipswich Town to fire a death stare at a supporter in the stands. It was a first win of the season for Kieran McKenna's side who denied Spurs the chance of going third in the table and instead they went into the international break languishing in tenth position. The Rangers hero has written off any title chances for the former Celtic gaffer but reckons he can get his hands on one of the cups this season.

He believes Tottenham, on their day, can beat anyone as he pointed to victories over Aston Villa, Manchester United and Manchester City this season as evidence to back up his theory. But O'Hara reckoned his fellow talkSPORT host as at the wind-up and reckons while some of the football is good to watch, the style of play means they won't win any trophies. as they duo had a back and forth live on air.

He told talkSPORT: "Listen, a win yesterday they go third in the league. People are very quick to turn. A few weeks ago Ange was like gods gift to football for Tottenham and things are going great. You have a couple of defeats and it turns so quickly. You've got to be patient. I am sure he will look at and think I need to be a little tighter in certain areas and make sure we don't keep getting beat. We need results. Claw one or two ugly 1-0 wins out."

McCoist: "It would not surprise me in the slightest if Tottenham won something this year.

O'Hara: "Are you having me on, Ally? Are you trying to wind me up?"

McCoist: "I promise you I am deadly serious. I genuinely think Tottenham could win a cup. No chance of the league."

O'Hara:. "I know what you are doing here, you are trying to set me up so you can clip this up and get me to come back on to say 'Spurs are back' and I look like an absolute donut."

McCoist: "My hand on my heart. The reason I am saying it is because Ange has already come out and said he generally wins things in his second year, which is factually correct."

O'Hara.: "As much as we play some good football, you can't win anything like that. "

McCoist: "I tell you why I think so. I might be proved totally wrong. On your day, as you've proved in the last couple of weeks, you can beat anybody which means you can win a cup. You can't win the league."

O'Hara: "There is no way we can win the league. The Carabao Cup maybe. But the Europa League, you talk about Europe, you can't play against a really good side and be 2-0 down at half-time. If you play against an Italian side you've no chance. You might get lucky and get the Carabao Cup but you've got to beat Man United who have now got a new manager. That's a tough game. And it is all Premier League teams in that now so it is a hard one to win. The FA Cup is always a long stint at the end of a season which is hard. The Europa League you've got to be solid and hard to beat. I know it is West Ham but they won that Conference League because they were hard to beat and didn't concede goals. Spurs concede goals for fun, you can get at them all the time. You can't win a trophy like that.

McCoist: "Jamie thinks I am at the wind up but I think they could win a cup. They've just not got the real level of consistency in them but on their day they will throw in a 4-1 Villa, knock Man City out and go up to United and win."

Harry Redknapp was also on hand to offer advice to Ange as he felt the heat from the supporters. He said: "Listen, a win yesterday they go third in the league. People are very quick to turn. A few weeks ago Ange was like god's gift to football for Tottenham and things are going great. You have a couple of defeats and it turns so quickly.

"You've got to be patient. I am sure he will look at and think I need to be a little tighter in certain areas and make sure we don't keep getting beat. We need results. Claw one or two ugly 1-0 wins out."
