Michael Carrick's hope as Middlesbrough start to 'get the feeling' for scoring goals
Michael Carrick says Middlesbrough are hungry for more after bagging four goals in a clinical display at QPR.
So often their downfall in the early stages this season, things have started to improve from an attacking sense in recent weeks and at QPR, Boro were as clinical as they've been all season as they came away with a 4-1 win. It follows scoring three at Norwich in their last away game too.
While Boro ultimately still seek consistency across both performance and results, the QPR victory, and manner of it, contained many positives for Boro to take forward as they look to string more results together and cement their place as promotion candidates. It will be a huge help to those aspirations if Boro can start turning their positive play into more goals, like at Loftus Road.

Speaking after the game, Carrick said: “It was good to watch. It was really good at times, and we want more of it. To see those moments of quality and periods of really good play, it probably reflects a lot of what we’ve been doing in the season, really. But we got the goals from it at important times today.
"That’s seven goals away from home in the last couple of tough games that we’ve had. It’s good for us to get that feeling again of scoring goals, and the boys will hopefully feed off that. I thought the goals, particularly first half, were really good. They were top goals, the move, the finishes and the positions we got in.
"We’ve been getting in those positions quite often, but the cutbacks haven’t really fallen for us over the course of the season. Credit to the boys for keeping doing the right things and getting in the right positions. Tommy and Riley managed to do that, and got on the end of really good moves.
"Then to finish it off, I was really pleased with Manu. I thought he came on and made an impact, and looked sharp. I was pleased for him to get his goal, and then the same for Dan. I thought he came on and controlled it and had a level of composure that we needed. He quietened the game down for us, and then got a fantastic finish for the goal. It was a really nice way to finish the game."
