Middlesbrough player ratings vs QPR with three 8s after an important victory in London
Middlesbrough grabbed an important three points points on the road as they won 4-1 at QPR to climb to seventh in the Championship table.
In a scoreline that makes it look far more comfortable than they ultimately made it, Boro were still good value for money for their win as Riley McGree, Tommy Conway, Emmanuel Latte Lath and Dan Barlaser scored the goals to seal the win.
As they pick up an important victory to get back on track, here's how the Boro players rated at Loftus Road.
Seny Dieng - 8
As quickly as Boro got themselves two-nil in front, they lost all their control at the end of the first half. With a lot of question marks hanging over him of late, Dieng stepped up on his old stomping ground and made three brilliant saves before the break. He was really unlucky not to leave with a clean sheet.
Luke Ayling - 6
Solid defensively, but for the one moment he let Cook escape him for their goal at the back stick. Used his experience to help Boro through a tricky second half, even when moving across to left-back.
George Edmundson - 7
One or two sloppy passes, particularly in the second half as Boro struggled to manage the game effectively. But he also did so well defensively against Celar to keep the QPR man quiet.
Matt Clarke - 7
Particularly guilty throughout of being sloppy with his passing out of defence, which is something he will need to work on. But, he also returned to his solid defensive ways, defending the Boro box against numerous deliveries from out wide with some excellent aerial work throughout.
Neto Borges - 6
Generally a solid game from the Brazilian without being spectacular. He defended well but didn't get much chance to attack as most of Boro's play came down the right. That was before he had to come off early in the second half with what appeared to be illness-related.
Aidan Morris - 6
Possibly missed having Hackney alongside him in this one. He was still full of energy and full of bite, but, in the absence of Hackney, Boro lacked a midfielder to carry it forward more.
Jonny Howson - 7
Showed plenty of experience and nous to help Boro get the result in this one. Generally really good in possession but for one first-half moment where he was caught out in an area he probably should never have received the ball.
Ben Doak - 8
Undoubtedly Boro's best outfield player. He had the QPR left-back Santos for toast throughout the first half and assisted Boro's first. With Santos withdrawn at half-time, he continued to prove a threat for Boro, more so on the counter in the second half.
Finn Azaz - 7
Another positive outing for the attacking midfielder as he found space well throughout and set Boro away on many positive attacks. He also added another assist with an excellent ball for Conway's goal.
Riley McGree - 8
A goal and assist for McGree in another excellent performance. Some of his touches and technical ability in intricate areas was really impressive. The agility to score his goal at the near post was so impressive.
Tommy Conway - 7
Another really positive performance leading the line for Boro as he grabbed his third goal in as many games and ran his socks off for the side.
Substitutions
Anfernee Dijksteel (For Borges, 50') - 6 - On early in the second half and was at times part of Boro's sloppiness in playing out from the back as QPR threatened to get back in the game. Was really unlucky with the own goal.
Dan Barlaser (For Howson, 80') - 7 - Came on and added some composure for Boro before then firing a wonderful first goal for the club.
Emmanuel Latte Lath (For Conway, 80') - 7 - At a time when Boro needed fresh legs off the bench, Latte Lath provided that and then showed great composure to score Boro's third goal and kill the game off.
Micah Hamilton (For Doak, 89') - N/A
