Michael Carrick will be forced into one change at QPR on Tuesday evening, with Hayden Hackney suspended after his red card in the defeat to Coventry City.

But will the Boro boss make any others after a disappointing defeat? Carrick was hoping to welcome back Ben Doak for the game, while Marcus Forss will also travel after missing out on a spot on the bench against Coventry due to illness to Neto Borges that required George McCormick to be on the bench.

Boro will be without Rav van den Berg again too, after the defender was ruled out for a 'few weeks' after twisting his knee in training ahead of the Coventry game. With all that in mind, here's our predicted Boro team for the QPR game.

GK - Seny Dieng - Conceded another three goals against Coventry and feels in need of a big performance at some point, even if none of the goals were his fault. He was solid on his return to Loftus Road last season, so Boro will hope he is again this time around.

DR - Luke Ayling - Back in the side for the Coventry game, it was a harsh decision again on Anfernee Dijskteel, who has done very little wrong of late. Despite that, it's the clearest indication that the Boro boss still sees Ayling as his first choice.

DC - George Edmundson - There was little he could have done with any of the three Coventry goals at the weekend as he also applied some big blocks as the Sky Blues used their man advantage to put pressure on Boro. He's been solid since signing and seems to have earned Carrick's trust.

DC - Dael Fry - The first of three changes we're predicting, Carrick strongly hinted that Fry might return against QPR, saying he's waiting for an opening but would have no hesitation to put him in now, based on his fitness and ability. With Matt Clarke struggling on his return to action, it feels like that opening Carrick referred to could be now.

DL - Neto Borges - Illness impacted his game a little on Saturday after what had been a really positive week for him before that game. Hopefully he is fully over that now and ready to get back on track as he continues to grow into this Boro side.

CM - Jonny Howson - The second change and only enforced one for Carrick, it's hard to imagine anyone but Howson getting the nod to replace the suspended Hackney in the side. Having come through his 65 minutes against Coventry and playing well in difficult circumstances, he feels like the best option for a tough away trip.

CM - Aidan Morris - In the absence of Hackney, Morris may need to step up and take on more responsibility as far as driving Boro forward is concerned. It's something he has done previously and, to his and Howson's credit, they helped Boro still maintain a chance in the game until late on.

RW - Ben Doak - The third change we're predicting is a return for Ben Doak. He is set to travel, with a late decision to be made on whether he can play or not. With his tight hamstring not believed to be serious, however, Doak's importance will ensure he is straight back in the Boro side.

AM - Finn Azaz - Sacrificed after just 25 minutes against Coventry because of the red card, there will be no issues with fatigue for Azaz. He started that game brightly as he found space and sent Boro away on two promising counters. In decent form of late, he'll hope to build on it against QPR.

LW - Riley McGree - While there might have to be some consideration over fatigue with McGree at some point over the next two games, given he's not started three games within a week in such a long time, Boro ultimately need to win this game in the capital and therefore need their best player on the pitch to achieve that.

ST - Tommy Conway - After scoring two at Norwich recently, Conway maintained his place in the Boro team against Coventry. Though the circumstances ended up making it a difficult afternoon in which he was often isolated, he left the pitch as Boro's best and most lively on the day.
