Middlesbrough's form in November has been further recognised as Michael Carrick and Finn Azaz were nominated for the Championship's Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Boro won four of their six games last month, scoring an incredible 18 goals along the way. It helped them climb back into the Championship top-six before a tough start to December has seen them restricted to just one point from away games against promotion favourites Burnley and Leeds United.

Nevertheless, Boro proved their own promotion credentials in November in their four big wins, which they will hope to replicate now that their tough start to December is out the way. Their form in November had already been recognised. Both Azaz and Emmanuel Latte Lath had previously been noninated for the PFA's Fans' Player of the Month award. It was announced on Monday that Azaz won the public vote to bag the accolade.

And he now has an opportunity of a clean sweep as he's nominated alongside his head coach for the league's official award. Azaz managed five goals and four assists in the five games he played in November, with his absence very much felt in the defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

Unlike the PFA award, which was voted for by supporters, the Sky Bet Championship awards is decided by a panel which comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL chief executive Trevor Birch and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies. Both Azaz and Carrick face tough competition for their respective awards though.

Azaz will be up against Vakoun Bayo (Watford), Borja Sainz (Norwich City) and Japhet Tanganga (Millwall), while Carrick is opposing Chris Wilder (Sheffield United), Scott Parker (Burnley) and Saturday's opponent Neil Harris (Millwall). Winners of both awards are announced on Friday morning.

Latte Lath was Boro's last player to win a Player of the Month award. His seven goals in six games as part of his incredible end to last season earned him the award back in April.
