'Might call Pep or Klopp for advice' - Ruben Amorim message sent as Man United appointment nears
Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler says he would relish the prospect of facing Ruben Amorim if he was appointed the new manager of Manchester United - but joked he would be unable to offer the 39-year-old any words of wisdom.
Amorim is expected to be named as Erik ten Hag's successor at Old Trafford after Sporting CP confirmed on Tuesday the Reds had triggered the £8.3m release clause in his contract. If the former Braga and Casa Pia manager is to be appointed as the sixth permanent manager of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, he would become the fourth youngest manager in the Premier League behind Hurzeler, Kieran McKenna and Russell Martin.
It is for that reason the Seagulls boss believes he would be unable to offer advice to Amorim, instead suggesting the Portuguese picks the brains of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp if he becomes unstuck in the Premier League.

“Thirty-nine, he’s eight years older than me. I think that he already achieved great things in Portugal so I saw some games from him and he plays incredible football," said Hurzeler in his press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s very dominant in possession. I’m not in a position to give him advice. If he needs advice, he might call Pep or Jurgen Klopp or some coaches like this.
“I’m not in a position to give anyone advice. I’m also in a learning process. I try and give my best. Let’s see what happens in Manchester. It’s always great to face new coaches, to compete with them and this will be another challenge.”
Goals from Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro saw Brighton claim a 2-1 win over United in August to prompt pressure on Ten Hag. The two sides will meet in the return fixture at Old Trafford in January.
