Mikel Arteta can field dream Arsenal line-up if Edu secures Brian Brobbey summer transfer

Arsenal may well be looking to sign a striker this summer as they look to improve the squad once more.

It was another impressive season for the Gunners as they took the Premier League title race to the final day, only for Manchester City to comfortably beat West Ham United to secure a fourth consecutive title. Mikel Arteta will be hoping his side can go one better next campaign and to do that adding some more firepower to the Arsenal attack may be on the agenda.

football.london understands Arsenal are interested in signing a versatile forward this summer, with Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko among the players being tracked by Edu. Another forward being eyed is Brian Brobbey.

The Ajax star scored 22 goals and set up a further 12 in 43 appearances for the Dutch side in 2023/24. The 22-year-old Netherlands international has previously spoken about his future and the Gunners in particular.

He told NOS Jeugdjournaal: "Arsenal, I think that is a very nice club. If you look at that stadium. A very nice club, but that also applies to Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid. I have a contract until 2027. At the moment I am just with Ajax."

Should Arsenal pursue any supposed interest, they could face a battle if Manchester United look to strengthen their attacking department. Brobbey has previously expressed his intent to sign for the Red Devils. When asked about who he'd like to play for one day, he said: "Manchester United."

The striker added: "Erik sent me a message, yes. To congratulate me, and to tell me that he would like to have me in Manchester. But I'm not finished at Ajax yet, I want to show something here first."

It's believed Arteta wants Arsenal to complete any transfer business quickly, so the majority of the squad is together for pre-season. The north Londoners will once again be touring the United States of America for the 2024/25 pre-season, with fixtures against Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool already pencilled in.
