Liverpool will reportedly step up contract negotiations with Mohamed Salah during the November international break after the forward was left out of the latest Egypt squad. With the Pharaohs having already qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Salah has been left out of Hossam Hassan’s squad for clashes with Cape Verde and Botswana.

The 32-year-old continued his superb start to the season for the Reds on Saturday night, racking up both his tenth goal and tenth assist of the campaign in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

With Manchester City losing away at Brighton & Hove Albion prior to kick-off at Anfield, the Reds’ win saw them move five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Also sitting top of the Champions League table and through to the League Cup quarter-finals, Salah has been instrumental to Liverpool’s impressive start under Arne Slot. The Dutchman has led his side to 15 wins from his first 17 matches since replacing Jurgen Klopp last summer.

Yet such form comes in the face of uncertainty regarding the future of Salah, along with captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold. The trio all remain out of contract next summer and will be free to agree pre-contract agreements with overseas clubs from January 1.

Alexander-Arnold continues to be linked with Real Madrid, but Van Dijk recently confirmed that contract talks have formally opened between the club and his representatives.

And it’s been reported that the same will soon be true for Salah with journalist Ismael Mahmoud reporting that the Reds are set to step up negotiations during the international break.

Revealing that the Egyptian is asking for a new two-year contract, he reported on social media that ‘the international break will be very important for the club to begin serious contract renewal negotiations,’ after Salah was spared from Pharaohs duty.

Mahmoud said: "I've been told that Mohamed Salah staying at Liverpool during the international break will be very important for the club to begin serious contract renewal negotiations. Been told too that Liverpool knows Salah is asking for a new two-year contract."

The player himself offered a cryptic hint about his future after scoring the winner against Brighton last weekend, writing on social media: "No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like."

And while he has previously admitted that he is conscious that this set to be his last season at Liverpool, the ECHO reported earlier in the campaign that Salah is desperate to stay put at Anfield.

Supporters have no desire to see the forward leave the Reds either, with a banner unveiled on the Kop during Liverpool’s victory over Aston Villa urging owners Fenway Sports Group to tie Salah down to a new contract.
