Mohamed Salah keeps on getting his goals this season but the wait for a new Liverpool contract goes on for Reds fans. The Egyptian has proven vital in the last two Premier League matches, notching an equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Arsenal before thrashing in a dramatic winner against Brighton at Anfield.

And Salah took the rare step of hinting at what the future holds for him on social media on Sunday, saying he'd "never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like".

The onus, it seems, is on Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes to find common ground with the 32-year-old's representatives in order to make a deal happen. Here's what the ECHO's own reporters make of the situation.

To get into early November without a resolution for any of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah or Virgil van Dijk's contracts should be worrying for Liverpool supporters.

It's been all quiet at the front of house regarding all three, save for a few words from Alexander-Arnold after September's win over Bournemouth, confirmation that talks are at least underway for Van Dijk after Chelsea last month and Salah's early-September claim that he had yet to be approached over his own terms.

Where Salah's specific situation is concerned, it's been suggested that Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes were waiting for clues to see how the highest-earner in club history fared under a new style at the age of 32. If that is the case then the 15 games so far this term is enough evidence to indicate that there will not be a huge drop-off anytime soon for one of the most gifted players to ever turn out for the club.

Fifteen appearances, nine goals and seven assists are all figures that paint a picture of a player determined to enjoy another stellar campaign at Anfield and if the data is revealing as much then Salah himself put the exclamation mark on those figures with his Sunday social media post.

"Top of the table is where this club belongs." wrote Salah. "Nothing less. All teams win matches but there's only 1 champion in the end. That's what we want. Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like."

If Salah is still desperate to stay, as the ECHO reported was the case earlier this year, then Edwards, Hughes and club owners Fenway Sports Group should be moving mountains to ensure he gets his wish.

Yes, the player's age is a consideration; yes, his high-earning status must be factored in, but when all elements are brought together the fact remains that Liverpool are far more likely to win major trophies with a player of Salah's calibre in their team.

It's becoming more and more of a no-brainer, surely? This man is a special case.

In seven years at Anfield, Mohamed Salah clearly has enough Liverpool memories to last a lifetime.

But it's clear now that the Egyptian is intent on making more before the season ends and his contract runs its course. His declaration that he'll "never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like" resembled the biggest hint yet that his time at the club was drawing to a close.

But Salah's emotional post spoke to something a little deeper. Indeed, the Egyptian isn't one for huge declarations of love and this was him making it as clear as can be just what the club means to him.

And while it's not as easy as handing the 32-year-old whatever contract he'd like, there has to be some sort of solution both parties can now come to in order to make this deal happen. Whether that be incentives or sponsorships, some creativity may be required to get this deal over the line.

If Liverpool are worried about a drop off for a player now comfortably in his thirties, then Salah's dedication to his body and craft, as well as his ability to influence huge matches, speaks to how his levels won't be dropping too dramatically any time soon.

And what about his influence in the dressing room? If Liverpool are to covet some younger stars to one day succeed Salah, then imagine the benefits of seeing him up close in order to learn just what it takes to be one of the world's best. His influence and popularity behind the scenes has only grown in recent years.

Something has to give in this situation and if it's FSG and a few more (thousand) quid, then so be it. There are plenty more memories to go around yet.
