Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has taken to social media following his team's comeback victory against Brighton, amid the delay over news about a potential contract extension.

The Egyptian, of course, is only tied down until the end of the season and can begin to talk with clubs abroad about a potential free transfer move in the summer of 2025 from January 1. That is now under two months away.

"Top of the table is where this club belongs," he wrote on Instagram. "Nothing less. All teams win matches but there’s only 1 champion in the end. That’s what we want. Thank you for your support last night."

More interestingly, he added: "No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like."

Salah has now contributed 16 goals and assists since Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer. He is scoring or assisting at a rate of once every 73 minutes on the field so far this season and he remains Liverpool's number one attacker.

"The second goal was a Mo Salah special," Slot said after the 32-year-old netted the winner this weekend. "It's not the first and not the last time he will score from that position."

After Liverpool beat Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this season, Salah raised eyebrows with some comments he made live on Sky Sports. "As you know, this is my last year with the club and I want to enjoy it," he said. "I don’t want to think about it; I feel I am free to play football. We will see what happens next year."

"To be fair I was coming to the game, it could be the last time [playing at Old Trafford]," he continued. "Nobody in the club has talked to me about contracts. It is not up to me, it is up to the club."

Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also in the final year of their current deals. The former, however, has already confirmed that talks with his representatives are underway.
