Mohamed Salah transfer prediction made as 'conversations happening' over five Liverpool stars

Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool has some major decisions coming up in terms of contracts and Jamie Redknapp says that 'conversations' will already have begun over what will happen — be it over extensions or even some potential high-profile exits.

"There are players who [only have a year left on their contracts] like Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Virgil [van Dijk] and the conversations will be going on," Redknapp said during Sky Sports' live coverage of the Reds' win over Spurs. "Thiago will be leaving and going somewhere else, and then there's Joël Matip with injuries he's had a great career here.

"The main one is your captain, Virgil van Dijk. What are you going to do with him? That's a big one and you will obviously have respect for him as a player.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Mo Salah goes in the summer. I can see that now. He's 32 in June and with Liverpool getting the right money in, I can just see it. It looked like he was going to go last year. Trent, 25 years of age. What do you think of him?"

"Liverpool have got to do everything within their power," Daniel Sturridge replied. "He's from the city and we're talking about guys like Stevie G and Jamie Carragher who have represented one club. I think that's what you want for Trent.

"Mo and Virg are guys who have been brought in and they've been absolutely world-class for the football club. But the local lad in Trent, who has become a superstar at the football club, he's the one you want to be sure."

Thiago and Matip have both missed the majority of the season through injury and look set to depart at the end of their deals. Liverpool is planning for Salah to still be in its squad in August when the new campaign kicks off, even as he heads toward the final 12 months of his existing contract. says: All three players who are out of contract in 2025 should be kept around at Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold is clearly young enough to have his best years still ahead of him, while Van Dijk and Salah still have so much to offer.

Van Dijk is still relatively not that old for a center-back and he has not long become Liverpool captain. Keeping him is a no-brainer, and Salah remains the best attacker that the Reds have. Losing any of the trio in the same summer as Klopp would be a big gamble.
