Mohamed Salah has sent a message after his first day returning for pre-season for Liverpool.

The Reds have begun their preparations for the new campaign at the AXA Training Centre in recent days. New head coach Arne Slot has been leading the training sessions ahead of the new Premier League season which gets underway next month.

Wednesday saw Salah return for his first day of pre-season training with Slot as head coach. The Egyptian was joined by Wataru Endo, who also took part in routine fitness tests on his first day back on Merseyside.

Salah and Endo have been enjoying their summer holidays after being given an extended break by the club. The duo featured for their respective countries after the conclusion of the Premier League season and were given extra time off as a result.

On Wednesday evening, Salah posted an update on social media after his first day back for pre-season. The post did not include a caption and instead was two photos of Salah - one of himself smiling in the gym and the other on the treadmill during his routine fitness assessment.

The update from Salah comes amid continued uncertainty surrounding the forward's future at Liverpool. The 32-year-old has just one more season remaining on his contract with the Reds, and it remains to be seen if he will put pen to paper on an extension in the coming weeks or months.

It was last summer that Salah attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, with At Ittihad submitting an official offer for the Reds No.11. Liverpool rejected a bid worth £150 million with Salah having two years remaining on his contract at the time.

Now Salah has just 12 months remaining on his deal and there is still no word on if Liverpool will open talks over an extension. Salah will be looking to be part of the Reds squad that travels to the United States later this month for the pre-season fixtures against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United - and if his latest update is anything to go by, he's keen to impress his new boss.
