Mohawk baseball team knocks off Neshannock

Apr. 2—The Mohawk High baseball team took care of business Monday afternoon.

The Warriors banged out eight hits en route to a 7-2 WPIAL Section 1-3A home win over Neshannock.

Bobby Fadden, Jay Wrona and Aidan Bowser notched two hits apiece for Mohawk (3-0 section, 4-0 overall). Wrona and Bowser drove in two runs each.

Vinny Pezzuolo (3-0) started and picked up the victory. Pezzuolo pitched five innings, giving up four hits and one run — earned — with three walks and five strikeouts.

Anthony Eakin recorded three of Neshannock's six hits. Cole Hutchison added two hits for the Lancers (0-1, 1-3). Eakin knocked in two runs as well.

Eakin swatted a home run for Neshannock.

Dominic Cubellis started and suffered the loss. Cubellis tossed three innings, allowing six hits and four runs — all earned — with a walk and a strikeout.

Neshannock entertains Mohawk at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Autumn Boyd paced the Lady Spartans to a nonsection road win over the Lady Warriors.

Boyd recorded two of Laurel's five hits. She also went the distance in picking up the win. Boyd gave up eight hits and three earned runs with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Mohawk (3-1) notched eight hits, three of which by Addy Moskal, including a triple.

Gigi Pezzuolo had a triple for the hosts.

Regan Magno (2-1) went the distance in taking the loss. Magno gave up five hits and six runs — three earned — with four walks and five strikeouts.

Laurel (2-2) scored a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Mohawk plated a marker in the second, one in the third and one in the fifth.

Mohawk returns to action at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Poland (Ohio), while Laurel takes the field at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at Neshannock.
