'Momentous occasion' Excitement builds for historic Super League clash in Las Vegas
Brian Carney believes British rugby league is 'pinching itself' ahead of March 1's Super League game in Las Vegas. Wigan Warriors take on Warrington Wolves in Sin City come round three, with over 10,000 fans from the U.K. alone expected to make the journey stateside.
Part of a huge rugby league weekend, the NRL season will also kick off at Vegas' magnificent Allegiant Stadium, with a huge double header seeing Canberra Raiders meet New Zealand Warriors before fourpeat Premiers Penrith Panthers take on Cronulla Sharks. Those games follow on from Wigan and Wire, which will see the premier European competition play in the United States for the first time.
And Carney, the host of Sky Sports' Super League covergae, has spoken of that excitement, with over 40,000 fans in attendance for the 2024 NRL event—with a strong contingent emerging from England, with the national women's side also taking on the Australian Jillaroos.

"We’re all pinching ourselves in the world of rugby league," Carney said on the Vegas event. "It’s such a momentous occasion for our game. Of course, the NRL was there last year, and now we get to bring our premier competition to the entertainment capital of the world.
"Two really strong sides that are expecting big seasons and the champions, the quadruple winners, the Wigan Warriors going to Vegas. We’re expecting north of 10,000 Super League fans, and I say Super League, maybe I should say Rugby League, not just Wigan and Warrington fans, to make the trip to Las Vegas. They do not want to miss this occasion."
