One of Trent Alexander-Arnold's former teachers stunned ITV presenter Ben Shephard after they predicted England would lose 2-1 to the Netherlands this evening.

The Three Lions are in action tonight in Dortmund as Gareth Southgate's side looks to qualify for the final of Euro 2024. Alexander-Arnold scored the decisive penalty for England against Switzerland on Saturday to secure their place in the last four.

Ahead of the game this evening, This Morning presenters Cat Deeley and Shephard conducted an interview with one of Alexander-Arnold's old teachers at St Mary's College in Crosby. After speaking highly of Alexander-Arnold, Mr Williams was asked for a score prediction for tonight's game and his response did not sit well with Shephard.

"I think they are going to get beat 2-1," he said. "[Cody] Gakpo and [Virgil] Van Dijk are going to score and then Trent will score the other for them. The Liverpool connection."

In disbelief, Shephard checked to see if the prediction was that England will lose and Mr Williams replied: "I think they might, yeah but I think the three Liverpool lads will score a goal tonight."

While Deeley laughed, Shephard looked dumbfounded by the response. In truth, England have not played anywhere close to the heights that were expected of them in this tournament.

Southgate's side have been stuck in second gear and laboured to a draw with the Swiss at the weekend. Despite making an impact in the penalty shootout off the bench, Alexander-Arnold is not expected to start against the Dutch tonight with the England boss keen to stick with his preferred starting XI throughout the tournament.
