MORTON Women boss Gary Forbes says his side should be full of confidence heading into this week's Scottish Cup clash against Bonnyrigg Rose off the back of a statement win over Hutchison Vale.

Ton look to end 2024 on a high in their final fixture before a month long winter break when they welcome the East Lothian side to Parklea on Sunday and Forbes says his players are in a good place following on from last week's 8-0 romp on league duty.

And he says his side should have nothing to fear heading into the clash as he says his players have all the tools to go and hurt a side flying high at the top of their division.

He told the Weekend Tele: "I think Hutchison Vale was a really important game for us that we'd go and win essentially. We had to make sure that we hit our targets from last season and beat targets from last season.

"I think that was really important heading into a good cup game this weekend.

"Should we go and win, it allows us to get into the next round of the cup but it's a good time for us to play them.

"There's nothing that we should fear in terms of yes, Bonnyrigg are going well at their level, but I believe we've got a quality side here that can go and not only match Bonnyrigg, but also go and beat Bonnyrigg.

"We've got nothing to fear. We've done our prep and we've done our analysis before training on Thursday.

"We've looked at Bonnyrigg and there's areas that we think that we can go and hurt them. I think the girls will be ready for the weekend."

However she's adamant that with confidence building within the group they're more than capable of matching Bonnyrigg all over the pitch.

She continued: "I came up against Bonnyrigg when I was with Giffnock and I was very impressed.

"They definitely are a very good side and it'll be a competitive game for sure.

"I feel like they'll be able to match us in a lot of areas of the pitch. But I think with that confidence and desire that we have to try and get through to the next round of the cup, I'm hoping that's what can get us over the line on Sunday.

"That win over Hutchison Vale last week has really boosted our confidence heading into the game and into the winter break so hopefully we can continue to build on that on Sunday."
