Morton's Zak Delaney says side have belief they can get out of relegation spots
MORTON defender Zak Delaney insists his side’s battling performance against Livingston showed they believe they can pull themselves away from the relegation play off spot.
Ton made it three games undefeated with two league draws now bookending last month’s win against Raith Rovers.
And despite falling into ninth place in the table, the Irish full back says his side believe they should be better off.
Morton are one of four sides in the Championship currently sitting on 15 points, but are bottom of that particular pile due to goal difference.
Delaney says it's important that the Cappielow men have something to build on heading into this week’s vital clash with Airdrieonians in North Lanarkshire.
He told the Tele: “I think the performance against Livingston shows that we believe we can get away from the bottom of the table.
“It’s massive to have had that performance looking ahead to Airdrie.
“You wouldn’t want to go into a game that big off the back of a bad game.
“There’d be a bit more pressure heading into it if not. So we know we’ve played well in our last three league games. Hopefully we can keep it going.
“I think that in loads of games this season we’ve been on the wrong side of things, so our place in the table we don’t think reflects where we should be as a group.
“There have been one or two games where we’ve let ourselves down but the others have been by a goal or two swing.
“It happens though - but we need to try and score first more. But against Livingston we held on and it’ll come together at some point.”
